Joanna Macy's Work That Reconnects
This month we draw on Joanna Macy's Work That Reconnects. Macy blends deep ecology, Gaia theory, Buddhist practice, and indigenous teachings into her framework. Each Sunday we will move through her spiral that begins in gratitude, then honors our pain for the world, perceives in new ways, and ends with going forward with hope. |

Advocate for Pasadena Building Electrification
On Monday, April 4, 2022...
Pasadena City Council is expected to consider updating the City’s building code to require some new buildings be all-electric, moving Pasadena further away from harmful fossil fuels. All-electric buildings are healthier, safer, and more sustainable. Recent studies have found that kids who grow up in homes with gas stoves are more likely to develop asthma. Gas infrastructure is also more dangerous during earthquakes, fires, and other natural disasters. Making the building of healthier, gas-free homes a reality isn’t difficult! An all-electric code update is one of the most cost-effective, timely, and impactful actions the City can take to reduce indoor and outdoor air pollution. However, the City’s draft proposal should be strengthened. City staff is currently recommending that new single-family homes and Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs or “granny flats”) be exempt from the proposed update, even though almost all of the 54 California cities with all-electric standards for new construction included single-family homes and ADUs in their policies. |
