TAKE ACTION WHILE STAYING 'SAFER AT HOME'
As we continue to stay "safer at home," we wanted to share resources and opportunities for you to continue to show up for justice during this time. As members of Throop Unitarian Universalist, we answer the call for social and environmental justice and stand on the side of love. Despite our physical distance right now, we can still make a difference and show up for love, for peace, and for compassion.
Below are a few opportunities in our area, and we will continue to add to our resources over the next weeks and months. If you have anything to share, please email Rev. Tera at [email protected].

Toiletries for The Women's Room
Show the Love with Contactless Donation
Remember back in January when we could bring needed items to church and leave them in the back for Friends in Deed? The Women’s Room at FID received lots of little travel bottles of lotion, shampoo, conditioner, etc for the ladies who regularly bathe at the facility. This is one of the many services that is so appreciated by the ladies who live on the streets or in their cars or do not have regular access to bathing facilities. We can imagine how wonderful it must feel to them, having clean hair and smelling fresh.
With all of us staying at home most are not traveling and so are not donating these toiletries so urgently needed. They are, however, sold on Amazon—21 products for $20.25 [that includes taxes].
If you have an Amazon account you can go to their site and search for ‘travel toiletries set for women’. The first item is the 21-piece selection. You can send it directly to the address below. When you send it as a gift, they will let you type a little message—this is where to say something like “a little donation from your friends at Throop UU Church”. Please select no Sunday delivery.
If you don’t have an Amazon account or want to be able to participate at a lower donation amount then you can make an online donation to Throop. Choose “social justice” from the drop down menu. We’ll combine the money and send however many we can.
